Miniature Drawer Chest

This unusual little cabinet breaks all of the rules of cabinet making. Made in Aberdeen in 1898 by a Plate Layer, it is likely that the parts were salvaged from the ship yards.

After years languishing in a damp garage, almost every glued joint had failed, and the finishes had deteriorated badly. The cabinet was dismantled piece by piece piece, and after careful cleaning, it was reassembled, with just a hand full of replacement pieces.

With good care, it will last another hundred years and more.
